The Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program (FFVP) is part of an initiative by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to offer high free and reduced elementary schools a wider variety of fresh produce than what is available through regular USDA Child Nutrition Programs, such as the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). 

The program goal is to create healthier school environments by expanding the variety of fruits and vegetables children experience, increasing children's fruit and vegetable consumption, and making a difference in children's diets to impact their present and future health.

How the program works

A fresh fruit or vegetable snack is provided 2-3 days/week to all students. Snacks are offered to students in their classroom after lunch but before the end of the school day. Participation is optional. Fruit and vegetable nutrition education is provided to enrich the student’s experience.

MySchoolBucks is a secure online payment platform that allows families to:

• Make one-time payments
• Set up automatic payments (AutoPay)
• Receive low balance alerts
• Monitor account activity

MySchoolBucks is:

• Easy: To set up an account you need the school, student name, student birthdate or 9-digit student ID#.
• Convenient: Once the account is established you can check balances, monitor transactions, and set up low balance text or email notifications at no cost.

Our Meal Account Payment and Charge Procedure provides information regarding student meal account management, including payment options, low or negative account balance notifications, and unpaid meal charges. To avoid interruptions in meal services, please keep your student’s meal account funded.

Student Meal Prices

Monthly pricing is based on an average of 20 school days.

Adult Meal Prices

• Breakfast: $3.00 ($60/month)

• Lunch: $5.10 ($102/month)

• Supper: $5.10 ($102/month)

Second meals purchased by students are charged at the adult meal price.

A La Carte Meal Prices

• Lunch Entrée: $2.70 ($54/month)

• Fruit or Vegetable (½ cup): $0.75 ($15/month)

• Milk: $0.95 ($19/month)

Our District’s student wellness policy focuses on providing school environments that promote the general well-being, mental and physical capacity, and learning ability of each student. The BSD promotes healthy schools by supporting wellness, good nutrition, and regular physical activity as part of the total learning environment. 

Our Wellness Committee develops, implements, monitors, and reviews District nutrition and physical activity practices.
