Applications for Free or Reduced-Priced Meals

Free or reduced-price meals are available for those who qualify. Eligibility is based on household income. Eligibility details can be found in the Income Eligibility Guidelines section under Resources below. If you believe your household qualifies, we encourage you to complete an online meal application using the links below. Paper applications (available in multiple languages) and free language assistance services are available upon request.

  • Your student may receive free meals without completing an applicaiton in the following situations: 

    Breakfast is free for all students at every Boise School District school.

    Lunch is free for all students attending the following Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools: Fairmont, Frank Church, Garfield, Grace Jordan, Hawthorne, Hillcrest, Horizon, Jefferson, Koelsch, Lowell, Lincoln ECC, Monroe, Morley Nelson, Mountain View, Owyhee, South, Taft, Valley View, Whitney and Whittier.

    Lunch is also free for students who qualify through Direct Certification, including those in households receiving SNAP, TAFI, or FDPIR, and students identified as foster, migrant, homeless, or runaway.

    Supper is free for children enrolled in after-school programs at the following schools: Grace Jordan, Hawthorne, Hillcrest, Horizon, Jefferson, Koelsch, Morley Nelson, Taft, Whitney, Whittier, Hillside, and South.

  • USDA Income Eligibility Guidelines (Effective July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026) 

    Eligibility for free and reduced price meals is determined based on your household income and the number of household members. Income limits (before deductions):

    A new meal application is required each school year. Only 2025–2026 applications will be accepted.
    Benefits from the previous school year will expire on September 24, 2025.

    • Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year
    • Only one application per household is needed

    When completing your application:

    • List all household members
    • Include income for each household member and the source of income
    • If a household member has no income, check the “no income” box
    • Foster children may be included on the household application

    Required Information:

    • An adult signature is required
    • Provide the last 4 digits of the adult’s Social Security Number, or indicate if one is not available

    All applications are reviewed by Boise School District Food & Nutrition Services to determine eligibility.
    Applications may be verified at any time during the school year.
