Open Enrollment Information

The Boise School District understands that some parents and guardians may wish to enroll their child in a school outside of their designated neighborhood school—whether from within or outside the district. If you are considering Open Enrollment, please carefully review the information and instructions below before submitting an application.

Now accepting applications for the 2025 - 2026 and the 2026 - 2027 School years.
Per Idaho State Code, the Boise School District will notify applicants of approval or denial within 60 days of receiving a complete application.​​​​

Application Process

Before applying for Open Enrollment, you are encouraged to first register your child at their designated (boundary) school.

Please note that submission of an application does not guarantee approval. All Open Enrollment requests are subject to review and space availability.

 

Steps to Apply:

  1. Review Board Policy 3113 – Open Enrollment: Familiarize yourself with the district's Open Enrollment policies as outlined in  Board Policy 3113.
  2. Complete the Open Enrollment Application and Contract

 

Assistance with the Application
If you need help completing the application, please visit the front office of the school you're requesting or any Boise School District school for support.

Additional Documentation Required (If Not Currently Enrolled in BSD)
If your child is currently attending an out-of-district school, charter school, private school, or is homeschooled, the following documents must be submitted with your application:

  • Behavior/Discipline Record
  • Attendance Record

Important: Applications will not be processed without these documents. If you are unable to upload them with the online application, please contact the school and arrange to deliver the documents directly to the school's office.
