Kindergarten Registration for the 2026 2027 school year 
will be held at all the Boise School District Elementary Schools 
on Thursday, March 5, 2026.  

3:45 - 5:30 (regular start schools)
*4:00 - 5:45 (late start schools)

*Lowell, Whittier, Amity, Hawthorne, Hillcrest, Morley Nelson, Shadow Hills, Riverside, Dallas Harris

Please plan on attending this fun and interactive time at your child's boundary school!  If you are not sure which school is your child’s boundary school, please visit the boundary locator on the Boise Schools website.  If you are planning on applying for Open Enrollment at a school that is not your child's boundary school, you will still need to attend the Kindergarten Registration at your child's boundary school.

To save time on March 5, please use the online registration system to enroll.  The online registration system will not open for the 2026 2027 school year until February 1, 2026.  

Dual Language Program

A Dual Language Program is offered at Whitney and Whittier Elementary schools. There is no extra cost for this program. If you are open enrolling to the dual language program from another school, you will be required to provide your own transportation.

  1. Register your Kinder student online or at your neighborhood to ensure your child has a seat in the event there is a waiting list for dual language program. 
  2. The online Dual Language Application will be available on February 1st. 
  3. A lottery will will be held in the first week of  April if there are more applications than seats. 
  4.  Take your new Kindergarten Student  to your assigned home school (check your home school site for times), to complete registration.

 

Free, Full-Day Kindergarten District-Wide

Boise School District provides free, full-day Kindergarten district-wide. Citing multiple benefits to students, teachers and parents, Boise School District Trustees unanimously approved free, full-day kindergarten for all Boise School District elementary schools beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.
