Students Help Shape the Future of Boise Schools Through Facility Planning Process
On Friday, May 1, 2026, members of the Boise School District’s Student Advisory Committee—representing all five comprehensive high schools and Boise Online School—met with school board members, district administrators, and educators to share their perspectives as part of the District’s ongoing 10-year facility master planning process.
The meeting built upon conversations launched during the Boise School District’s Educational Futures Conference held April 2–3, 2026, where community leaders, educators, and stakeholders explored emerging educational trends, enrollment and demographic shifts, student wellbeing, career-technical education, artificial intelligence, and future-ready learning environments.
As the primary users of school facilities, students provided valuable insight into how learning spaces support engagement, collaboration, safety, and success. Their feedback will help guide future decisions about school facility improvements and long-term investments across the District.
The planning process is designed to ensure Boise School District schools continue to provide high-quality learning environments while aligning with current and future enrollment needs. As Boise continues to evolve, thoughtful planning today helps prepare schools to support students for years to come.
By including student voices in the conversation, the District continues its commitment to creating learning spaces that reflect the needs of those who use them every day.

Boise School District Powerdown Challenges Deliver Big Energy Savings
Boise School District students and staff recently helped make a big impact through a pair of energy-saving “Powerdown Challenges” in partnership with Idaho Power.
During Spring Break, the district achieved its greatest energy savings in the Borah Quadrant, reducing power use by 20.49% compared to the week before break. Districtwide, Boise schools saved 124,131 kWh of electricity in just one week — enough energy to power approximately 12 homes for an entire year and equal to the carbon reduction benefits of 90 acres of forest.
The district also introduced a new “Take it Outside Day” during Earth Week and Arbor Day celebrations, encouraging outdoor learning activities to reduce energy use during the school day. Compared to the previous Friday, schools saved 5–7% in energy use across all quadrants, totaling 5,940 kWh in savings — roughly equivalent to the daily electricity use of 200 homes.
The effort not only supported sustainability goals, but also gave students an opportunity to enjoy learning outdoors while helping conserve energy across the district.

Action Needed: Secondary Families Asked to Download Athletics Physical Forms Ahead of New Registration System Launch
Boise School District is transitioning to a new athletics registration platform for the 2026–2027 school year. Beginning in May, Rank One will replace Aktivate as the District’s system for managing student athletic registration and required Physical Education physical forms.
As part of this transition, families of current secondary student-athletes who already have a physical on file for next school year (including students entering 8th, 10th, and 12th grades) are asked to log in to Aktivate now and download a copy of their student’s physical so it will be ready to upload when Rank One launches.
Students entering 7th, 9th, or 11th grade athletics will need a new physical dated after May 1 to participate next year, in accordance with Idaho High School Activities Association and Boise School District requirements.
Once Rank One launches, families will upload forms directly into the new system and will also be able to access participation documents, team schedules, and athletic updates in one convenient place. 🏃♂️📋
Additional instructions and support resources will be shared soon.
During Teacher Appreciation Week, families across the Boise School District are sharing heartfelt messages recognizing the educators and staff members who make a difference in students’ lives every day.
