Boise Schools Kick Off 2025-26 with Excitement and Belonging
The 2025-2026 school year is officially underway, and our schools are once again alive with excitement, energy, and the joy of learning. Across the District, students walked through the doors on August 12, 2025 with bright smiles, eager to see friends, meet teachers, and begin a new year filled with possibilities.
From our youngest learners to our graduating seniors, every student in the Boise School District is part of a community where they are supported, valued, and belong. Our commitment is to create a safe, inclusive environment where all students can grow, prosper, and succeed—not just in academics, but in developing the skills, confidence, and character that will last a lifetime.
First Day of School Brings Excitement to Boise School District’s Youngest Learners
August 18, 2025 marked a milestone for the Boise School District as students walked through the doors of the brand-new Owyhee Early Learning Center for the very first time. Located in Boise’s southwest neighborhood with easy freeway access, Owyhee joins Lincoln Early Learning Center, which opened last year in Boise’s north/northeast end, in expanding our early childhood education offerings across the city.
Both centers are part of the District’s Strategic Plan to provide families with more choice, access, and high-quality early learning opportunities. With these two centers in place, families in different parts of Boise can access comprehensive, research-based Pre-K programs close to home, ensuring children start school ready to learn and thrive.
At Owyhee, classrooms are designed to foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence in a supportive and nurturing environment. Our experienced educators deliver instruction that meets each child where they are developmentally, while helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
“We know the early years are a critical time in a child’s life,” said Superintendent Lisa Roberts. “By investing in high-quality early learning, we are investing in our students’ long-term success and our community’s future.”
The opening of Owyhee Early Learning Center reinforces the District’s commitment to supporting families and providing exceptional education for every child, starting from their very first day in the Boise School District.
In her recent Back to School video message to staff, Superintendent Lisa Roberts (pictured) reminded us of the power of working together to ensure the very best for our students. While the video was produced for our team of educators and support professionals, its message resonates far beyond our schools—it’s for our students, families, and the entire Boise community. Together, we share the responsibility and privilege of providing the finest public schools and public education possible.
When we work together—students, families, and educators—there is no limit to what our students can achieve.

At the August 11th Boise School Board meeting, Boise School Board Vice President Maria Greeley (pictured) announced her plans to resign from the Board of Trustees at the September 8, 2025 Board meeting. Trustee Greeley shared that her husband, Neil, has accepted a multi-year work assignment in Singapore.
Elected in 2012 and reelected in 2018 and 2024, Greeley has dedicated thirteen years of service to the Boise School District. She is recognized for her leadership, commitment to students, and strong advocacy for public education. During her tenure, she served on numerous board committees, prioritized visiting every school in the District, and championed initiatives to expand student choice and ensure equitable access to high-quality programs.
