Getting Started
Welcome to Boise School District! Enrolling your student is an important step, and we’re here to help make the process simple and supportive. This page is designed to provide clear, helpful answers to common enrollment questions—from getting started to required documents and next steps. Our goal is to ensure every student has a smooth, supported start and every family feels informed and connected along the way.

While not required, it is strongly recommended that your student attend registration with you.

Yes, a parent or legal guardian must be present to complete the registration process.

Appointments are not required. However, calling ahead—especially at the secondary level—can help reduce wait times.

Students may begin attending school the day after registration is completed and all required documents are submitted.

Transportation
Where can I find bus information?

When can my student start riding the bus?
- Grades 1–12: Transportation can begin immediately
- Kindergarten: Bus setup may take 3–4 days
Be sure to request transportation during registration.
Open Enrollment

Open enrollment allows students to apply to attend a school outside their assigned attendance area.

Processing may take several weeks after all paperwork is submitted.

Students can enroll full-time or take individual online courses while remaining enrolled at their home school, depending on their needs and schedule.
