Student Health- Dental Clinic Link

Dental Clinic

The Dental Clinic was established in 1954 by a group of local dentists who recognized a need within the community. The clinic is available to any student (K–12th grade) who qualifies and is currently enrolled in the Boise School District. The clinic provides the following free services:

  • X-rays
  • Limited exams
  • Fluoride treatments
  • Prophylaxis/cleanings
  • Oral hygiene instruction
  • Composite restorations
  • Basic extractions
  • Dental screenings

The clinic operates through a combination of district support and community donations. It is staffed by local dentists who volunteer their time each week. Located at Whitney Elementary, the dental clinic is managed by Amy Williams, Dental Hygienist/Coordinator.

Who Qualifies for Dental Clinic Care?

Students who lack financial resources and do not have Idaho Smiles/Medicaid or private dental insurance.

How Are Referrals Made?

Students are referred to the dental clinic through the school nurse. All students in Kindergarten, 2nd, and 5th grades are screened by a dental professional or nurse, and a referral will be sent home if any concerns are identified. Additionally, any student experiencing dental pain or other dental concerns may visit the nurse to request a referral.

Parents may also request their child or children be screened at any time through their school nurse. For further information, please contact your school nurse.
