Registration & Payment

How do I register?

Online (Recommended)
Register at Community Education online.
Classes fill quickly, so online registration is encouraged.

  • Each participant must have their own account.

  • When registering a child, create the account in the child’s name.

  • Credit card charges will appear as Independent School District of Boise City.

By Mail
Complete one registration form per participant and mail with full payment (including material fees) to:

Walk-In
Bring completed registration forms and full payment to:
Boise School District Service Center
8169 W. Victory Rd., Boise
Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Accepted Payment Methods:
Cash (exact amount), check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or debit card.


How much does a class cost?

Tuition is $11 per instructional hour, prorated based on the number of sessions.

  • Individual class descriptions list total fees.

  • Material fees are non-refundable if a student drops a class.


When is payment due?

All fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.


Program Funding

How is Community Education funded?

The program is primarily funded through class tuition fees. Revenue supports:

  • Fall, Winter, and Spring catalogs

  • Postage and printing

  • Administrative staffing and program operations

We welcome suggestions to help keep this valuable program affordable and sustainable.


Registration Confirmation & Waitlists

Will I receive confirmation?

  • Online registrants receive an electronic receipt.

  • Mail-in registrations receive an email or printed receipt.

You do not need your receipt to attend class — just mark your calendar!


What does it mean to be on a waiting list?

If a class is full, you may join the waiting list at no charge.

  • You are not enrolled while on the waiting list.

  • If space becomes available, staff will contact you.

  • Payment is required only if you accept the open seat.

  • Instructors sometimes add additional sections when demand is high.


Scholarships & Donations

Are scholarships available?

Yes. Tuition scholarships may be available for hardship situations.

  • Eligibility follows Boise School District Free/Reduced Meal guidelines.

  • Scholarships are awarded first-come, first-served based on available funds.

  • Up to $22 tuition scholarship per class, per session (maximum two per family).

  • Recipients must still pay material fees and any additional tuition beyond $22.

  • Applicants are notified within two business days.

Applications are available online or at the Community Education office.


Can I donate to the scholarship fund?

Yes! Donations are tax-deductible and help provide access to others.

When registering online:
Select “Add More Courses” → “Scholarship Donation.”

Scholarship donations are non-refundable. We greatly appreciate your support.


Cancellations & Refunds

Why would a class be cancelled?

Classes may be cancelled if:

  • Boise School District schools are closed

  • Inclement weather affects evening activities

  • An instructor illness or emergency occurs

  • Minimum enrollment is not met

Weather updates are announced through local media and district communications.
For questions, call 208-854-4047.

If possible, cancelled classes will be rescheduled.


What if I need to cancel my registration?

  • Full refund (tuition and materials) if the District cancels the class.

  • 7 days’ notice required for a tuition refund before the class begins.

  • No refunds after a class has started.

  • Material fees are non-refundable.

  • A $5 transaction fee applies to dropped classes.

  • Tuition escrow credit may be issued for future use.

Teaching Opportunities

May I teach a Community Education class?

Absolutely! We are always seeking passionate volunteer instructors.

Once approved, instructors may select:

  • Class dates

  • Number of sessions

  • Preferred location

Participation & Conduct
Participants agree to follow applicable Boise School District policies. The Board Policy Manual is available for review.

Notice of Risk
Participation in Community Education classes may involve risk. By enrolling, participants assume responsibility for participation and release the District and any host site from liability related to injuries or damages.

Class Content Disclaimer
Volunteer instructors are not affiliated with or endorsed by the District. The District is not responsible for the content of presentations.

Religious/Sectarian Programs
Participation is voluntary. Some classes may discuss religious or sectarian topics. These classes are not part of the District’s required curriculum.

Photography & Media
Participants consent to the use of photographs or videos taken during classes for promotional purposes.
